“Give Peace a Chance,” the anti-war song written by John Lennon, was recorded in room 1742 at the Queen Elizabeth Hotel in Montreal on June 1, 1969, during the second famous “Bed-in For Peace.”

John Lennon and Yoko Ono were protesting the Vietnam War and promoting peace. Friends who dropped in and joined the recording included Tommy Smothers, Petula Clark, Dr. Timothy Leary, Allen Ginsberg, Dick Gregory, and members of the Canadian Radha Krishna Temple. John Lennon and Tommy Smothers played acoustic guitar for the recording.
